At Lancaster Veterinary Centre we firmly recommend that you consider getting your pet insured. Veterinary procedures and treatments are all progressing and developing (just like in human health care) and we have now many new ways of helping, supporting and treating sick and injured pets.
Modern medicine however can be expensive. Referral for a CT-scan for example (perhaps to look at a tumour and plan its removal) can cost £600-880 and an MRI-scan (to assess a damaged joint or a spinal injury) can be as much as £1500. Having a good insurance policy means that, should the worst happen, you can concentrate on your pet getting the right care and treatment with the reassurance that the insurance company is going to deal with the costs.

Why Lancaster Vets promote Petplan
Not all pet insurance is the same, and with advancements in veterinary medicine it’s essential to choose the right insurance so you can get the right treatment for your pet without having to worry about the cost.
The policy you choose can have implications for the veterinary care of your pet so it’s important to choose the right cover. When shopping around for a policy, we recommend that you consider the following:
- Does the policy cover congenital, hereditary, hip-related, dental and behavioural conditions?
- Is there a time or monetary limit on how long the policy will cover ongoing conditions for?
- If you claim, will your premium increase?
At Lancester, we work in partnership with Petplan® who offer a range of plans, outlined below.
No cover is provided for pre-existing conditions .Your premium will increase over the lifetime of your policy and terms, conditionsand excesses apply and may be varied on renewal.
